Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-11-02
In short: your screenshots are read on your iPhone by default. If you choose the cloud engine, a screenshot is sent only for that one reading and is not stored. We don’t sell data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across apps.
Who we are
Gistshot is published by Webstarted LLC (“we”). Questions about this policy: hola@gistshot.com.
What the app accesses
- Photos: to find your screenshots, read them, move them to the “Catalogued” album and, only when you confirm, delete them. iOS asks you to confirm every deletion.
- Reminders: to add each item to the list for its type.
How screenshots are read
By default, text recognition and classification happen on your device, with Apple’s Vision framework and Apple Intelligence. Nothing leaves your phone.
If you turn on the cloud engine, the screenshot and its recognized text are sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards them to our AI provider (Anthropic) to classify it, and returns the result. We don’t store the image or the text after the request. Screenshots that look like codes, passwords or financial details are never sent, whatever engine you choose.
What we store
- On your device: the state of each screenshot (read, to review, saved) so the app can pick up where you left off. It is deleted when you delete the app.
- On our server: if you use the cloud engine, a usage counter tied to an anonymous identifier, to limit spend per user. No images, no content.
- Waitlist: if you join, your email and language, only to tell you when the app launches. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or share personal data, we don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. The website uses no cookies.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, and to correct or delete it, by writing to hola@gistshot.com.
