Keep the gist.
Lose the screenshot.

How it works

One screenshot, one line in the right list.

Your screenshots are reminders you never read: a movie, a book, a song, something to buy, a restaurant, a recipe, an idea. You don’t need the image. You need the reminder.

  1. 1

    It reads it

Each new screenshot is read on your iPhone: the title, the link, what it’s about. It also works with the Shortcuts “Screenshot” automation.

  2. 2

    It files it

Each item goes to its own Reminders list, with its own color. If it isn’t sure, it goes to Review and tells you why. No guessing.

  3. 3

    You decide when to delete

Images wait in the “Catalogued” album. Whenever you want, review them all at once and free up space in one tap.

Gistshot’s delete sheet: it shows the 4 screenshots that will go, what stays in Reminders, and a “Delete 4 · free 14 MB” button.

The promise

Nothing gets deleted until you say so.

A screenshot cleaner that keeps what mattered. Cleaners just delete. Gistshot saves the gist first, and only then offers to delete the image.

  • See everything before deletingThe thumbnails that go and what stays in Reminders, on the same screen.
  • 30 days to change your mindDeleted screenshots stay in Photos’ Recently Deleted, as always on iOS.
  • When in doubt, it asksAnything it doesn’t get goes to Review. Made-up data is worse than an unprocessed screenshot.

Your lists

Everything in its place, in Reminders.

One list per type, with the same color in the app and in Reminders. See them on your iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch, and check them off once you’ve watched the movie.

Privacy

Private by default.

A screenshot can hold anything. Gistshot is built so nothing leaves your phone unless it has to.

Read on your iPhone

By default, with Apple Intelligence, on the phone itself.

Codes stay put

Anything that looks like a code, a password or bank details stays on your phone. Always.

Cloud only if you want

If you pick the cloud engine, a screenshot travels only for that one reading and is not stored.

FAQ

Questions.

Does Gistshot delete my screenshots on its own?

No. Screenshots it has read move to a “Catalogued” album, and deleting is a separate step: you see the thumbnails and what stays in Reminders before you confirm. iOS also keeps them for 30 days in Recently Deleted.

Are my screenshots uploaded to a server?

By default they are read on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence. If you choose the cloud engine, a screenshot travels only for that one reading and is not stored. Anything that looks like a code or a password never leaves your phone.

What if it doesn’t understand a screenshot?

It goes to the Review list and tells you why. Gistshot doesn’t guess: we’d rather ask you than save made-up data.

Where do the lists live?

In Apple Reminders, one list per type (Movies & shows, Books, Videos, Music & podcasts, To buy, Places, Recipes, Ideas & notes and more), each with its own color. You see them on your iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch.

When does it launch and how much is it?

It comes to iPhone first. Price and free trial will be clear before you pay, and canceling is easy. Join the waitlist to hear first.
